Biography

Assemblyman Jim Silva is a life-long resident of Orange County -- the first supervisor in the history of Orange County who was actually born in the county.  After a hotly contested Primary campaign in 2006, Jim Silva won the Republican nomination to the 67th Assembly District and went on to an overwhelming victory in the November General Election.

Jim was reelected to the Assembly in November of 2008, receiving 62.4% of the vote.  

As the Assemblyman for the 67th District, Jim Silva represents all or parts of Anaheim, Cypress, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Stanton, and Westminster.

Jim Silva has a long record of public service. He was elected to the Orange County Board of Supervisors in November of 1994, and took office January 1995, one month after the county declared bankruptcy. A strong fiscal conservative, Jim helped lead the county back from bankruptcy, without raising taxes.

As the Mayor of Huntington Beach in 1992, Jim oversaw the rebuilding of the famous Huntington Beach Pier that was destroyed in a winter storm. The pier was rebuilt on time and under budget.
Jim and his wife Connie have been married 38 years and live in Huntington Beach. They have two children, Chad and Donna. Both are graduates of Marina High School and the United States Air Force Academy.

Jim Silva's professional experience includes 28 years as an economics teacher in the Garden Grove Unified School District. In addition to teaching, Jim also holds a real estate broker's license. He has been an active member of the Republican Party for many years and has lent his support to numerous local Republican campaigns.

Jim is a former member of the Orange County Transit Authority, Orange County Sanitation District, South Coast Air Quality Management District and LAFCO and sits on the boards and commissions of many other organizations.

Assemblyman Silva received his undergraduate degree from San Jose State University and a Masters Degree from Chapman University.
